Week Ending 01/26/25

 I had some fleeting ideas about doing a race (I haven’t raced since mid-December) but just couldn’t quite pull it together.  I was thinking of doing the Fudge 5k but the prospects of running a decent effort in 4 degree temps just didn’t sound like something I really wanted to do.  I did however get in a workout on Friday with a 3 mile tempo run in 20:49, a solid effort for me at this point.  I also felt good about getting in a long run on the Monday holiday after shoveling about 5” of snow I hit the Methuen rail trail and ran the Depot to State Line five times to get 13.13 miles in 8:24 pace.  I thought this also was a good effort given the conditions.  Maybe I’ll race next week?

I also got out on the Dualtrac's for some skiing and even did some running in snowshoes.  Had to since it was "Winterfest" weekend.

Workout

 At the last minute I figured I’d do a workout at lunch on Friday (in trainers). Goal = 2 warm-up and 2 under 7's. Decided to make it a 3-mile tempo instead about 1/2 way through since I couldn't seem to get going any faster but felt I could continue at the same clip. The 5-10mph breeze and terrain made the splits a bit uneven. 20:49 for 3 miles (701/658/650). 

Can you age grade a workout? Why not? 

Equals 5:37 pace.

Hot running

 Since I’m thinking about “extremes” here are the hottest runs I’ve ever done.  I kept the list to 95 degrees and hotter, had I put it at 90 I’d have over 100.  2020 had 22 days over 90 but none over 95!
