I started off the week taking a nasty spill on the icy Methuen Rail Trail. I thought I'd really messed up my thumb (which swelled up and turned black & blue) but it was really my quad and hip flexor that took the brunt of the fall. That left me having trouble lifting my leg and especially sore at the start of each run. I felt lucky that I was able to continue running all week but for the most part I was a minute a mile slower. I was even slower when the footing was sketchy as I feared falling again. On the positive side I got in a nice 10 mile run on Thursday morning before the snow fell and another 10 mile (8 with Scott Spence) on Saturday morning. I'm way ahead of last year in the number of runs over 8 miles...which is a good sign for the marathon in April!
